SMSeed Privacy Statement
1. SMSeed is local-first
SMSeed is a Windows application for preparing, publishing and scheduling content to social platforms you choose. Its working copy of your brands, connected-account records, captions, drafts, schedules, publishing results, history and Media Library records stays on your Windows device in a local SQLite database and local media folders.
SMSeed does not include advertising SDKs, third-party behavioral analytics or cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information.
2. Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use SMSeed, local information can include:
- brand names, optional descriptions and connected-account identifiers;
- captions, titles, drafts, destination choices, schedules and publishing results;
- media files you add or allow SMSeed to manage;
- local settings such as theme, scheduler state and launch-at-sign-in preference; and
- backup and diagnostic files you create.
OAuth access and refresh tokens are kept in Windows protected credential storage. The local database stores a credential reference and expiration information, not the token itself. SMSeed diagnostics deliberately exclude tokens, credentials, captions and post contents.
3. Information sent when you connect or publish
SMSeed sends information only to perform an action you request, such as connecting an account, checking for an update or publishing content. When you publish, SMSeed sends the selected caption, media, account identifiers and authorization data to the selected platform: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or X. TikTok publishing is limited to video in the current Windows release.
For an Instagram still-image post, SMSeed may prepare a JPEG locally, stage it as an unpublished Facebook Page photo directly with Meta, and use Meta's returned address to create the Instagram post. SMSeed asks Meta to delete that temporary staged photo after the publishing attempt. Provider processing or a cleanup failure can affect how long Meta retains it.
4. getsmseed.com services
The getsmseed.com service supports provider authorization, credential renewal, Windows update checks and voluntary Bug Report or Feature Request submissions. Normal server and hosting-provider security logs can receive technical information such as IP address, request time, browser or application user agent and requested URL. The Windows update check does not include captions, media, social-account credentials or publishing history.
If you choose Send Feedback, SMSeed sends the feedback type, subject, details, optional reproduction steps, optional reply email, application version, build and baseline. If you select technical context, it also sends the Windows version, processor architecture, display size and scaling, and application-window size. Feedback never automatically includes tokens, account names, captions, media, file paths, publishing history or database contents.
5. How we use and share information
We use information only to provide the functions you select, maintain the service, answer support requests, investigate defects or abuse, improve SMSeed and comply with legal obligations. We share content and account information with a social platform only when you direct SMSeed to connect or publish. We may disclose information when legally required or when reasonably necessary to protect security, enforce our terms or investigate fraud or abuse.
6. Retention and deletion
Your working data remains on your device unless you remove it. The installer intentionally preserves local data during upgrades and uninstall so it does not erase work without your direction. You may remove connected accounts, local database records, backups and managed media through SMSeed and Windows. Voluntary feedback is held in private server storage for product support and beta review until it is no longer needed for those purposes or a legitimate legal or security reason.
Read the SMSeed Data Deletion Instructions for local-data, provider-revocation and feedback-removal steps.
7. Security, children and changes
SMSeed uses Windows protected credential storage, HTTPS, short-lived authorization handoffs and local-first storage practices. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your Windows account, device, backups and exported diagnostics, and do not share provider credentials.
SMSeed is a business and content-publishing tool. It is not directed to children under 13, and you should not provide us with a child's personal information. We may update this statement when SMSeed or its data practices change. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date, in-app legal statement or release information.
